Walk & Talk

Therapeutic Style

Person-centred

The person-centred (or humanistic) approach focuses on the client as a whole. It understands that the client knows how to get the best from themselves. Exploring issues together, this theory aims to empower the client with self-awareness in order to find solutions that fit them

Psychodynamic

The psychodynamic approach explores how the past can shape our thoughts and feelings. It can help identify patterns of behaviours and relationships, effectively helping current and future relationships with others. Within this therapy, we will aim to identify any unconscious thoughts and feelings, exploring how they affect our behaviours today

Existential

Existential theory takes a philosophical look at existence, purpose and the meaning of life. It believes we are not born with a set meaning and we develop this as we create our own personality. As life’s meaning constantly changes, we are continually recreating ourselves. Through this process, we can easily lose our sense of self. By using this approach, we will look at core beliefs, our understanding of death, life’s meaning and our purpose
